Our Story
First Date
We connected on Hinge and after a few phone calls and unlimited texts, decided to meet for brunch. JJ tried hard to find Astha’s fav breakfast dish pancakes and failed miserably!! But the day was not a waste, we talked for hours, walked around DC and left knowing we’d want to see each other again!!
“We had a good time together and it was easy to talk to him. He came along with me for a walk and shopping for Christmas gifts, which was very sweet. I liked his smile too!!”
“When I saw Astha for the 1st time, I knew there was something special. She was dressed to impress and I was NOT! I told myself “these pancakes better be amazing!”...they weren’t. We had such a great time talking though, I knew I wanted to see her again…glad she didn’t hold the pancakes against me!”
This was our litmus test! When we realized we both traveled similarly and enjoyed every moment with each other, we knew this was going to work!! We also got to learn a lot about each other, away from all the distractions of life!
And we love spend time outdoors…doing nothing!!

The Proposal
Setting the Stage
Proposing to a person in winter, who loves spring and flowers, was a challenge. I wanted the perfect backdrop for the moment. Luckily we were going on a family trip to Hawaii, where I packed the ring, convinced everyone to dress up on our last night on a sunset boat tour…
Here We Go!
…The captain positioned the boat, queued the music, Ajee got his camera ready, and I got down on one knee! I didn’t say much, but she said yes!
